Many have had several nights of sleeplessness. Nights when It was so scared of something that had happened in the past that I let future be determined by it. At some point, we have all been there. Not alone are you.

We are speaking about moments when the past just can’t be shaken by us. Whether it’s something tiny, like making a bad first impression, or saying something you didn’t want, or something big, like getting your business shut down. It’s difficult to harp on bad memories and we can’t move on to anything more positive when we hang on to the pain.

That is why it is vital for you to let it go and leave past behind using the following 7 tricks

Really, what happened? React only by facing the truth. 

What emotions am I feeling? I personally enjoy writing them down. 

How can I use this to make myself and my feelings empowered?

It’s time to move on after answering these questions. While it is acceptable to focus on the past for a little bit of time, focusing on it would hold only those negative thoughts and feelings around.

Express yourself.

Do not hesitate to relieve the pain you feel from your chest. Whether it’s talking to the person who has hurt you (or who you hurt), expressing to a friend or writing it down, sharing your emotions will help you figure out what needs to be accomplished to move on, if anything.

By distancing yourself from the people, places and objects that remind you of the past, just detach yourself from the situation. Exercising ways to escape for a while might give you the opportunity to experience something positive-even if it’s just camping without access to social media at a nearby campground. You’ll have a glimpse of the past when you return.

Think about the people around you.

Take the people around you for inventory. Who’s pessimistic, and who always brings you down? What are the past-related individuals that you are seeking to get away from? To find more optimistic individuals that will inspire you, you will need to step away from these people.

Forgive yourself while you are at it. None of them is flawless, and everyone make mistakes. Cut yourself some slack instead of throwing yourself for your previous failures and think on the lessons you’ve learned.

You will be able to move on until you do not bear the rage and bitterness. Just leave past behind.

Make new memories.

Finally, leave past behind in order to replace those bad memories from the past, start creating fresh, positive memories . Spend your time with those people that make you happy, those things that bring you joy, and those places that bring you peace. It’s easier to be trapped in the past to build fresh memories.

In reality, scientists have found that having so many old memories makes it harder to create fresh memories. Out with the old and in with the new, then. This is to live in the moment.
