The Greatest Secret To Achieve Your Cherished Goal

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it.”

What are the important factors in achieving a cherished goal?

The two important factors are:

    1. Withstanding the pressure of work and overcoming the fear of failure, and
    2. Facing various challenges.

the important factors in achieving a cherished goal

If we closely look at the above two factors, we can very well see that both are inter-related. As we reel under the pressure/fear of failure, it saps our mental energy and hence cannot enable us bravely to face the challenges, if, however, our mental energy is not sapped by fear of failure, we can effectively use it to face the challenges.

The Greatest Secret Of Achieving A Given Goal:

Swami Vivekananda revealed the greatest secret of achieving success in his lecture ‘work and its secret’ delivered at los angels, California on 4th January 1900. If we follow his advice and correctly apply his advice we can surely achieve our cherished goals. Let us look at his message attentively, “one of the greatest lesson I have learnt in my life is to pay as much attention to the means of work as to its end. I have been always learning great lessons from that one principle, and it appears to be that all the secret of success is there; to pay as much attention to the means as to the end.

U.S. President (1933-45) Franklin Roosevelt said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Many times, we fail due to our fear of failure though capable of achieving our goal. In our day-to-day experience we see how certain cricket teams playing in the final game wilt under the fear of failure and lose the match. We also see many students reeling under the pressure of examination and fail to prepare well for them. Here comes swami Vivekananda with excellent advice so that we can achieve success.

He say that we should first set our goals and the means required to achieve it; once this is done, focus on the means and forget about the target. Here is the advice to us: “Once the ideal is chosen and the means determined, we may almost let go the ideal, because we are sure it will be there, when the means are perfected. When the cause is there, there is no more difficulty about the effect, the effect is bound to come. If we take care of the cause, the effect will take of itself. Whenever failure comes, if we analyse it critically, in ninety nine percent of causes we shall find that it was because we did not pay attention to the means. Proper attention to the finishing, strengthening, of the means is what we need. With the means all right, the end must come.”
