Luck and Success

Luck or chance is an occasion which follows beyond one’s control, without regard to one’s will, purpose, or anticipated effect.

Luck is most significant in every one’s life. Luck – it changes even poor man to a richest man. We can easily identify the luckiest person and unluckiest person. Luck decides where the person should be. An American inventor Thomas Edison said “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”

A true story about Edwin C. Barnes and his lucky opportunity

Edwin C. Barnes had a desire to work with Thomas A. Edison not for him. But he just got chance to work in Edison’s offices at very small wage even though Barnes never give up his goal, he waited for his opportunity. Luck knocked the door after five years; Barnes saw a chance to work with Edison. Thomas A. Edison had perfected an office device called “Edison dictating machine” (at that time) but his sales man did not believe it could be sold without great effort. Barnes used this opportunity, he believed that he can sell this machine and he suggested this to Edison, and promptly got his chance. He sold it machine successfully and Edison gave him a contract to distribute and market it all over the nation. He earned 3 – 4 million dollars and did something infinitely greater. His desire fulfilled. For Edwin C. Barnes luck dressed up like “Edison dictating machine” he utilized it and become rich.

There are two types of luck.

Luck – few people pulls luck towards them by putting hard work to reach their goal. That is why Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United State of America said, “I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.”

Luck – few people reach their goal because of luck. Some people doesn’t know what is hard work because opportunity found them, they succeeded through luck.

Luck may come in any appearance be aware and utilize it. Prepare and be ready for opportunity, there is nothing discouraging than being unprepared when lucky opportunity presents itself. Just try to know what you want exactly and be single-minded to persistently chase it and surely Luck will find you. Give 101 – 110%, then luck will buzz in.
